The case for YouTube Premium

For the longest time, I’ve been a Spotify Premium user, paying RM14.90 a month for the privilege. However when YouTube started offering YouTube Premium locally with YouTube music thrown in for just RM17.90 a month, it’s a no-brainer. I simply had to switch. Not only do I get to enjoy ad-free YouTube, I also get to listen to YouTube Music which is generally Spotify’s biggest competitor, all for 3 ringgit more.

Let’s face it, YouTube ads are getting pretty annoying and longer all the time. Watching YouTube minus the ads gives me the peace of mind worthy of RM17.90 a month. YouTube Music offers pretty much all the songs available on Spotify except for a few rare or really old songs. Quality-wise, although some people claim Spotify’s is superior, honestly I can’t really tell the difference.

So if you would like to watch ad-free YouTube and stream all the music you want, forget Spotify. YouTube premium is the way to go. Should I feel bad for Spotify? Between the two multi-million dollar company, I don't really care who gets 3 ringgit more from me per month.
