Believe it or not, I've been blogging here at Blogger.com for 17 years now. Since the heydays of blogging until Tik-Tok and Instagram killed the blogger star (I'm far from a star). If you noticed, it's been a downward spiral in my quantity of blogging. From 30 to 40 posts per year until a dozen two years ago and just a single post last year. Why? To be honest, I lost the energy, time and motivation to blog. Especially on a big tech platform like Blogger.
There's a good reason why I deleted my Facebook account many years ago, stopped posting on Instagram and Twitter and turned to open source and decentralized social media like Mastodon, Pixelfed and Loops. I've written in detail why I moved to Mastodon from Twitter and then why I ultimately moved away from big tech social media in this long post on my new blog at Micro.blog.
So to all my friends and long-time blog readers (yes all 3 of you), you can find me blogging at Micro.blog from now on. I pay $1 a month for this blog and it's well worth it. It's beautiful, clean and minimalist just the way I like it and more importantly, it's not owned by a genocide-compilicit company like Google. Until then, see you at my new home at afif.micro.blog (you should ditch Google too). Thank you for your support all these years.
