It's common knowledge that if you buy national cars especially Proton, be prepared to get it fixed. Things will break, later if not sooner. My 4 years old Proton Savvy was problematic within the first 4 hours of purchase. After I got home from the showroom, I can't turn into reverse gear. That was just the beginning. I had numerous other problems with the car that I simply lost count now.
Before today if there's anything broken with my Proton, I will quickly run to the nearest Proton Edar service centre or authorized workshop. It didn't occur to me to to go to any other workshop. After all, Proton should know best about their cars right? Then a few years down the road, I wizened up and realized that half the time the people at Proton have no clue on what is wrong with my car. They just simply change the entire part without checking first or attempt to fix it.
So a few weeks ago I got word from a friend about this Proton Savvy specialist workshop in Puchong called RS Auto. Actually it's more of an unofficial Renault specialist center because they fix all kind of Renault made cars including Proton Savvy which is 80% Renault.
The folks at RS Auto really knows their stuff and actually tries to fix what's wrong with your car first before they change anything. Take the ignition coil and TDC problems for example. At Proton, they'll advise you to change the whole shebang altogether for 400 to a few thousand ringgit. At RS Auto they can fix it for 30 ringgit.
Needless to say, this workshop is a favourite haunt for Proton Savvy owners from all over the country. They came here to get their Savvy serviced or fixed. During weekends, you can see dozens of Proton Savvy parked here like a little TT gathering.
I got my Savvy serviced there for RM175. Although it is a little expensive because they used a semi-synthetic Elf engine oil, at least I don't have to service my car again until the next 10,000 kilometers. Besides, they only change the most necessary parts not like Proton who changes everything whether they needs changing or not. You can get to RS Auto at no 28 Jalan Industri PBP4 Puchong or simply Google for RS Auto and Mr Ho (0122365520).
Update:
Check out my latest review of R.S Auto. This place sucks.
